On 14th March 2019, the Women Activities & Social Services Association (WASSA) celebrated 8th March, International Women ‘s Day in a different program in partnership with Actionaid Afghanistan together with participation of Ghoriyan District Governor, other government officials, members of district women shura and beneficiaries of RCV project in Ghoriyan district of Herat province. WASSA with close cooperation of members of district women shura organized a handicraft exhibition where the participant purchases their products for their support and motivation.


On March 12, 2019, the Women Activities & Social Services Association “WASSA”, in collaboration with the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR), celebrated 8th March (the International Women’s Day). The ceremony began with the presence of a number of government representatives, civil society activists, heads of local and international NGOs and media. The theme for this year celebration was (Think equal, build smart, innovate for change), on which the focuses all speakers were reflexive of the mentioned theme. In addition to the esteemed speakers, the internal displaced girls (who were WASSA’s direct beneficiaries) were asked to read their own poems and articles (related to world’s women day) for the audience. And also, RAWI theater team had few minutes live theater show on the subject of Afghan women’s current challenges. The ceremony ended with Eng. Sayed Abdul Qader Rahimi the Provincial Chancellor of the Afghanistan Independent Human Rights Commission summ-up speeches.
Beside the ceremony, WASSA had organized an exhibition program with coordination of Internal displaced women and girls’ various groups (who were UNHCR’s other partner direct beneficiaries on vocational trainings) to exhibit their handcrafted products for participants and the participants bought these handheld products to show their further support and motivations.
