The Women Activities & Social Services Association’s (WASSA) advocacy endeavors with the financial support of USAID/Musharikat secured the support and endorsement of Afghanistan’s Parliament and Ministries of Women Affairs and Social Labor Affairs of Islamic Republic State of Afghanistan.
WASSA representatives conducted series of advocacy meetings at the national level with Ms. Naheed Farid Head of Human Rights, Civil Society, and Women Affairs Commission, Mr. Malekzai, Head of Law Implementation and Central Audit Commission of Afghanistan Parliament, Ms. Safi, Minister of Women Affairs, Mr. Sadat, Minister of Labor and Social Affairs on 12th and 13th of July 2020 in Kabul.
The main account of stated meetings was to approve the standard package of workplace conditions for females employees at provincial government offices.
During the eight-month assessment and series of meetings from the government offices in three provinces, (Herat, Badghis, and Farah) WASSA with support of watchdog committees consist of representatives from DoWA, DoLSA, a representative from mentioned Provincial Government Offices, Provincial Council, Civil Society, and Musharikat coalition developed 8 legal instruments and offered to the stated parliament members and relevant ministries for approval. Hopefully, during our series of advocacies meeting, all mentioned bodies approved the offered legal instruments and congratulate WASSA and all members of this process for highlighting such an important issue.
