The Women Activities & Social Services Association (WASSA) with the financial support of United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) celebrated the International Day for the Elimination of Violence against Women (EVAW) on 27th November 2019 among the valuable guests Ms. Anissa Sarwari (Executive Director of Provincial Women’s Affairs). Mrs. Sakineh Hosseini (Member of Provincial Council), State Representatives, activists and heads of civil society organizations. The program began with the recitation of the Holy Quran, and then the participants rose in honor of the national anthem. In the introduction, while welcoming the dear guests, Mr. Said Wase Sayedi, Executive Director of WASSA, spoke about the activities of the organization. Subsequently, Ms. Anissa Sarwari, had a brief speaking on 2019th DoWA activities.
Then, Ms. Hosseini, spoke in detail about the role of women in reducing violence against women for the audience. Following the ceremony, the Honorable Office (WADAN) representative Mr. Sufi Zadeh, while introducing his office, spoke about how the exhibition and handicrafts were made by IDPs. Following the students’ lectures, participants were invited to watch a 10-minute clip of women’s achievements over the past 18 years
Two of the cafe students also talked about their achievements over the past year and how much these services have impacted their lives. A documentary titled secrecy of violence by Salim Moqimi was played for the participants.
At the end of the program, the AHDAA Taekwondo girls’ team had a brilliant performance among the applause, and recently the program participants painted their hands as a sign to stop violence against women.
