Najla’s Workshop of Dignity and Change

Najla Kakar, a mother of two, spent over three years in Iran after leaving Afghanistan in search of safety and stability. Life as a refugee was never easy, and when the situation for Afghans in Iran became increasingly difficult, Najla made the brave decision to return home.

Upon her return, Najla faced the challenge of rebuilding her life from scratch. Through WASSA’s Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) initiative, she received cash assistance that allowed her to purchase tailoring machinery and essential equipment.

With determination and skill, Najla established her own workshop. Today, she not only earns a sustainable income for her family but also provides livelihoods for more than 15 women who work alongside her. Her workshop has become a source of empowerment, economic independence, and hope for other women in her community.

“This workshop gave me back my dignity. I can take care of my children and help other women do the same.” – Najla Kakar

Najla’s story is a testament to the power of opportunity and resilience — proving that with the right support, returnees can rebuild their lives and create lasting change.
